Executive Vice President of Genzyme Corporation

Sandford D. Smith joined our Board of Directors in May 2007. Mr. Smith currently Executive Vice President of Genzyme Corporation, a publicly traded company, and President of Genzyme's International Group at their offices in the Netherlands and Cambridge, Massachusetts. Mr. Smith joined Genzyme in 1996. He is responsible for all of Genzyme's commercial activities for the lysosomal storage disorder, renal, transplant and biosurgery products outside of the United States . Mr. Smith has extensive global experience in the biotechnology field. He received his B.Sc. (Business) from the University of Denver and completed Graduate Studies in Finance at Columbia University.
