Anal Intraepithelial Neoplasia (AIN)
AIN, also called anal dysplasia, is characterized by the presence
of abnormal cells that may precede anal cancer. Risk factors for
contracting AIN include engaging in anal intercourse and the corresponding
risk of infection with certain viruses, including HIV.
AIN is not readily treatable with a surgical approach, as in cervical
intraepithelial neoplasia.
